After an epic court battle for the right to show this film in its entirety (and the screening of a redacted version at Hot Docs 2016), “The Opposition” appeared in its full form at the Sydney Film Festival 2017. I assisted composer John Gray on this project, and was amazed to see the sheer determination, passion and resilience brought by all involved in making sure this story would be told. Standing ovations ensued after each of the two Sydney Film Festival screenings. You can see the trailer below:
